Poker Power

Poker Power

What kind of player are you? Do you enjoy the excitement of Pai Gow or the high-rolling stakes of Cyberstud? Whichever your poker game of choice, it pays to understand basic strategy.

Three Card Poker

Three-card poker is actually two games in one. You can bet on one or both.

Game One

The dealer's hand doesn't come into play at all; you are paid out odds according to the cards you draw and the paytable on your screen, which is based on the one used in Las Vegas and is most favorable to players.

Game Two

After making an ante bet and being dealt three cards you must either play or fold. If you fold, you lose your ante bet. If you play, the dealer's cards are revealed. The dealer qualifies if queen high or better is drawn. You win your ante back at 1 - 1 and your play bets are returned if the dealer does not qualify. If the dealer qualifies but has a weaker hand then your own, you win the ante and play bets at 1 - 1.

Cyberstud

After making an ante bet you are dealt five cards while the dealer is dealt on card face up.You the n have the choice to call or fold. If you call, the dealer will be dealt four more cards. Your bet will be returned to you with double your ante if the dealer does not have a qualifying hand of ace king or higher.

Tips:

  • Fold if you have less than an ace-king
  • Call if you have a ahnd with any pair or higher
  • Call if you have an ace-king and at least one of your cards is the same as the dealer's

Pai Gow Poker

In this combination of poker and the Chinese game Pai Gow the aim is to make the best five-card hand and the best two-card hand possible - and then bet it against the dealer's hands.

Tips

  • You hold - No pairs, no straight, no flush

Your strategy - Use highest card for five-card hand and second- and third- highest cards for two-card hand
  • You hold - Six-card straight

Your strategy - For the five-card hand, use the straight that remains after you have selected the two highhest cards for the two-card hand.
  • You hold - Full house

Your strategy - Use three of a kind for the five-card hand and the pair for the two-card hand.
